Threads and embroidery materials
Metallic covering threads, for which a finely spun metal wire is wound in dense turns around a core thread made of cotton, silk or synthetic fibres in order to increase their solidity.
A distinction is made between the following types of mylars:
Brilliant yarn: The covering thread lets the core thread shine through.
Ondé: A wavy covering is created by use of a curly metal wire.
Frisé: Corkscrew-like covering.
Diamanté: Pearly covering.
Bullions: Are generated by screw-like winding of finely extracted metal wire (screw wire).
