Lacing
These lacings are still traditionally used by so-called students’ fraternities.
These are sociable associations cultivating traditions and customs.
Generally, a jacket consists of several closures.
Their number is to be specified by you.
Usual gradations are 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28 cm.
All lacings are basically made of Russia braid in 8 mm width.
Hussar lacings which we manufacture by hand may have different shapes:
– trefoil shape
– bow shape
– three-part bow shape
– chevron shape
Moreover, other lacings are made for pockets, cuffs and back.
When producing lacings for so-called “Kneipjacken” (jacket – part of a traditional costume of German students’ fraternities) we process pearled twisted cords.
A “Kneipjacke” lacing always has two toggles covered by hand.
Lacings for a so-called “Pekeschen” (jacket – part of a traditional costume of German students’ fraternities) are also made of a pearled twisted cord but a “Pekesche” lacing has three toggles covered by hand.
The toggles serve for closing the jacket.
